This study was carried out to investigate acute toxicities of Herbal-acupuncture extra of Red Ginseng, Raw Ginseng and White Ginseng in rats.
Each Ginseng extract was made by so-called water-alcohol method and the concentrations of them were controlled by 10, 100 and 1.000 times of basic clinical dose.
The rats were treated on Choongwan(CV12) locus by Herbal-acupuncture of Ginseng Radix only twice per 12hrs.
After the treatment, careful observation was done to find out any possible clinical symptoms during 7 days, and at the 8th day of the experiment, all animals were let blood by cardiac puncture and gross examination on the organs of rats was done in autopsy.
As results, all rats were alive during the experimental period so can not yield LD50, any significant clinlcal symptoms were not observed, and RBC, WBC and hematocrit level of experimental groups had no statistical significant value compared with the control data.
Gross examination on the organs of experimental groups was showed no abnormal findings in autopsy.
So in general acute toxicological aspects, Herbal-acupuncture of Ginseng Radix in rats was practically nontoxic.
